Well first of all if you want to be competitive you need to look at other hosts (or designers) packages. Although usually a small business will never be able to compete with a big corporation as they have more money and resources usually.
Second you need to look at what you are currently spending, your expenses. Such as Hosting, Office rent, lattes, leather office chairs, etc. Then see what you are able to offer with your current hosting specifications. But remember, most of the time the users will not always use every megabyte of filespace or bandwidth you give them, that is why overselling is a great feature in cPanel. three you need to price the packages accordingly so that if you sell X amount of this package you will be making a $10 profit this month, but if you sell the same amount of another package, you will make $30 a month. Mainly you just need to set your packages appropriately with features and space that your future clients will want to purchase from you. But at the same time only offer what you can afford or you could go under pretty quickly. |

Actually these days its all about the amount of wasted resources your clients will get that they enjoy seeing. For example - clients like to see unlimited emails, subdomain, addons etc. They like to see GB's of Storage etc. They don't fully understand that 95% of them will NEVER come close to touching the limits. And of course we all know putting limits on Databases, Emails, etc is just a way to get clients to bump up to the next level. They are always limited regardless by their given resources (storage/bandwidth)
So you have to think it through. Its common now to see 1GB of space going for $4 up to $9 dollars USD. |
