Default Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp()

Hi folks. As a new customer here, trying to import my wordpress mysql database, I have

1. created new mysql database and user

2. assigned all privileges

3. used phpmyadmin to upload the .sql file from previous host

4. entered new db details into wp-config.php

BUT then I get this error

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp() in /home/ghnet/public_html/wp-blog-header.php on line 14

I chmoded that file to 777 but still the problem persists.

Totally run out of ideas. Please help.

Looks like your WP site is missing some files/functions - specifcally the wp function

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate that.

But... Fantastico did the autoinstall.

Anyhow, I did a check. I looked at a functioning blog on another server and find:
20 wp-xxx.php files in the root
1 in wp-admin's root
0 in wp-content's root
2 in wp-includes's root

I see the same number of wp-xxx files in the non-working blog.

Am I getting your meaning?

The problem remains, I think, unsolved.

There should be an index.php in the wp-contents, check that you have the theme that was used from the previous version before you uploaded the Sql, seems that this is what wp is looking for.

In the wp-includes i believe about 71 php files, if these are missing, you might as well drop the data base and re-install wp again, go to the file man. and save your original wp-config to a temp folder or somewhere and retrieve it later.

Ps had a similar experience whe installing WP, it placed my blog in a sub domain then placed all the files in a folder under my root.
