Yer, agree with jrawly on that point!

My personal oppinion here, but I don't think the domain "www.updatingsite.com" is worth $500? You could simply have updatingsite.myhost.com

Wouldent that look even more professional?

I would bid for the domain value where it was registered, if it was register at GoDaddy, I would pay $8.95 (Their fee) not $500

Unless you have a real demo site what it does and such, then the price will be worth higher.

Just my opinion, thanks

IMHO some of you are being a little hard on IowaStudio...

I can definately see the potential to sell that domain. I believe that he would be able to turn a profit on it, if he finds a buyer, and that is all he is trying to do. No harm in that.

IowaStudio: While I believe what I said above is true, it is my opinion that $500 is over-reaching quite a bit. If I had the need for such a name, I might be willing to pay ~$50.

Just my thoughts.

only potential i could see for a domain like this is something along the lines off http://www.changedetection.com/ - changedetection is a very advanced website, you choose what URL you want it to "check for changes" simple as that, it will update you via email if any changes are detected.. very good to use with your hosting company/isp/ anything that has a TOS or AUP.

But as stated above in my post here, a site like that already exists, and would mean trying to fight a battle to become no.1. It is probably only worth the fees it costs to registered it, unless someone had another idea for it.

Also the fact that its created: 2007-10-31 and expires: 2008-10-31 could meant hes trying to sell it before it expires, some domain buyers tend to pay less for domains expiring within 60 days. Also means he might just have seen someone else think of an idea, and just registered the domain quickly
Also just did a quick search, seems to me that it has never had a website, just sat there.

Sorry i dont mean to ramble on, just my honest opinion
