I understand that host nine supports streaming media, but does anyone know how to set this up? Any details would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, micha002 |

It will depend on what you're trying to stream. Other things to consider are do you require conversion on video media to FLV (Flash Video).
Hostnine will work to a fashion with streaming media, but they only support FFmpeg-PHP, many other tools in the Linux environment are required but not available on Hostnine. I ran a server test script just 2 weeks ago, it ran 8 tests, hostnine failed on 5 of them, if it was errors it wouldn't have been so bad - but total failure using my test script means I can't run the scripts I need. If you're streaming large amounts of data then I would suggest using a dual server system, since the streaming will cause high-server loads. |
