Has anyone used the OSCommerce Shopping cart. If so, how do you get the products under the catagory. I am a novice at this shopping cart business. Hoping to learn more.

morones5,
I am predjuiced, but I do not favor nor recommend OSC., I am here as a value added reseller, mainly to the ecommerce crowd and specifically ZenCart. Is this for you? or for one of your clients? You can email me through my profile if I can be of assistance. If not: kobra@kobra.ws |

Why ZenCart? Is it more easier to use? I know that there are 3 we can choose from with the cPanel. I have seen 2 of them and don't care for teh CubeCart. Just seems to be limited. Tell me more.

I have used OSC in the past and the # of mods that one has to install just to get a pleasing functional cart is ridculous.
ZenCart is a fork of OSC and IMO much more polished. I never install from Fantastico BTW. |

Then you do everything from scratch? I unfortunately do not have the knowledge yet to do that. If I went with ZenCart, I would have to go through Fantastico in the cPanel. Might work almost the same. Aslo, maybe you could answer a question for me? When you want to sell items on your website, how do you point to the Cart, do you just put a link on your page? Then it looks like a page within your site? Sorry for teh questions, just trying to get ahold of this stuff.
Thanks, Mike |

Both OSC and Zencart are not modular where you can include pieces into an html page...
The whole idea is to get away from having to maintain an html environment and let a secure serverside application manage the products, inventory, purchase, and payment, among other things. Both create pages dynamically from many pieces so that you do not have to crete a html page for each of your items. Best way is to make the cart look like your vision of your html site and then scrap the html. |

I think I am beginning to understand. So then on your page, say for example, youhave products, just link to which ever you use for teh shopping cart and have the customers use that one. Which I think you can change the background to match your original site, right? I like to use Paypal, and I think you can use it with ZenCart and OSC.
