I'm a new HostNine customer. I specifically choose HostNine to make my first stab at working with a CMS. I've been creating and maintaining sites with static HTML for... well, for an embarrassing long time. Simply put, I'd like to find out what other HostNine users recommend for a CMS "newbie." I've been trying to compare Drupal and Joomla -- and probably making myself more confused.
Thanks in advance. |

well... i have enough time using different CMS's.... almost all included on fantastico and many more including commercial.
best things on market actually FOR ME are drupal and joomla Drupal: i might say that drupal is ahead with configuration and things that are very hard to get in joomla are to easy to get on drupal. joomla: has enough components to fit every needs also buid templates for joomla is easy and components are easy too. thats what makes joomla for my the best one. always some things turn easy on some CMS's others.. little bit complicated, i like joomla because no matter what you need ( easy or not) is possible, something that i can't say about drupal and others. also you will find a lot of templates (are easy to build), components ( are possible to build too), and a huge community if you need a hand. actual joomla release 1.0.12, version 1.5 final release is comming which is going to end competition with drupal, and add many features more. the site http://www.joomla.org has a easy tutorials no matter what you chose, have fun and good luck

I've been using tikiwiki cms. Fantastico installs it. Has the best forum on the net. Good cms if you need to service a group, it has tons of built-in features. May not be best choice for new designer who just wants a personal site.
Here are 2 sites I built with tiki http://www.publicwiki.rockawaybeachl...tiki-index.php http://www.independencepartyofqueens.com/tiki-index.php Here is tiki homepage http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Home |

For me its CubeCart. Its so simple to skin and easy to just strip out the cart function making it ideal as a CMS. You can see what i mean by visiting www.ansuk.com. CubeCart is used there but we simply stipped out the shopping cart
