Default User Management for multi php scripts

Hello all,

I'm new to the game of php scripts, I've been playing around with them and now I'm about ready to start building a new site. I'm planning on having a number of php features on the site: a directory, a forum, a classifieds section and an events calendar to start off with.

My questions are: Is there a php user management script out there that would work with multi php scripts so my members wouldn't have to login to each one separately? Can it be integrated with each script? Or is there a set of scripts out there that work well together?

I'm thinking of using a content manager (joomla) to run the whole site, which I know would be the easiest. But, I would like to create some of the static pages in html because of its design flexiblity.

Any advise is greatly welcomed!

Thanks!!
Shawn

You should look around at the Joomla mods, bridges and extentions. Single login verfication from disparate php scripts is problematic as this is DB driven. Not impossible, just problematic as many utilize sessions for control.
Some of the mods/bridges attempt to handle this.

Joomla actually has several components for many things, the frontend CMS, a forum, blog, cart, etc. So that you really do not need to know or use an outside php routine for this.

Not sure what you feel is html's design flexability or is this just that you are familiar with it? Joomla is extensible and makes for a seamless consistant front for your visitors which is a beneficial attribute over wildly different pages.

Try it...I think that with a bit of easy learning compared to writing your own php stuff yu will find that it is versatile.

Thank you for the input, it does look as though a CMS would be the best option.

My reasoning for wanting to stick to html is based upon my comfort zone, but also, I envisioned my site with more than one page layout. What I've found so far indicates that joomla can work with more than one template, but it can be very problematic. Which is why most CMS sites have only one layout.

Hitting the tutorials on joomla template creation, I'm sure once I get the concepts in my head, it won't be so daunting!

Thank again,

Shawn

Also don't forget, creating static content containing only html is also a sinch in Joomla. I have used Joomla for many things and it can handle pretty much anything.

The trickiest piece is coming up with a template to your liking. Designing one from scratch would be tough if you are not familiar/comfortable with Joomla and it's templating system. However, you could either purchase one, or go to one of the freelance sites like scriptlance.com, and have someone design one for you reasonably inexpesive.
