Free Site Monitoring Service

In my efforts to beat my clients to the "my-site-is-down" punch, I found a free service called basicstate.com, that monitors the uptime of your websites every 15 minutes or so. If one of your sites is down, they will automatically email you to let you know.

I've had this in place for a couple of weeks, and it's been great. Made me look like a genius to one of my clients who called to let me know his site was down. I told him I already had a trouble ticket in on it.

I am sure most of you would be using a lot web based tools for running your reseller business. Such as Uptime, Tracert, Nslookup etc. Please share the links of those websites specially free ones. I have included 2 links which may be of help to some of you.

If your just trying to monitor whether or not the server is online, just setup a script to ping it at intervals and report back somewhere.

Is there anyone else using BasicState who is no longer receiving any daily reports (and I suspect alerts, too)?

I have 7 sites monitored with them, and I've received nothing since 20 Nov.

It looks like BasicState might be history. Since I posted my question yesterday, their website appears to no longer exist.

Yep... getting the same problem gwill, probably gone bust or something along those lines!
