Default Site builder will not publish, Here is a fix for you.

Some History: For a few days I played around with site builder for one of my client sites. I never used it before so I figured I would use it on a site that I owned, but could take my time creating.

Everything was fine until I went to publish it, and despite looking and searching through numerous areas I failed to be able to find documetnation that helped me resolve the error.

Today I took some more time to try to figure it out, even went as far as posting a help ticket, something I try to avoid doing to get it figured out. Immeaditaly after posting the help ticket I went on a search for more info about Sitebuilder, and found several "Help desk" like posts that were not in the manual.

They after a fashion led to my a resolution, so let me share it with you all.

1. Log into the site builder admin panel at www.sitebuilder.(your domain name).com.
2. If you have not done so, create a plan called site owner.
3. now create a user for that site.
4. Log out.
5. Log back in with the new user account.
6. Create your site.
7. Goto publish...

7a. When publishing use "Publish to Known FTP host."

7b. For "Host (IP or DNS name) use your IP address. If this is not known and your a resellar you can look this up by logging into your WHM panel. If your a site owner ask Host9 for this info.

7c. For Web site URL use: http://yoursitename.com/

7d. for working directory use: /www/what ever directory you wish thats already in exsistence

7e. Authentication type: Specify your user name for that site and a password.

***Note*** you may still use the resellar accounts access to the site builder, but must use 7a thru 7e to achieve publication.

If your still having errors after doing the above feel free to post, I would love to help you and would be more then willing to keep this post upto date to allow everyone to use site builder.

Hi,

i bought a reseller account because i host all the sites that i have created.
I decided to try this site building thing but it is driving me crazy as it wont publish it.

i followed you instructions by making a new user etc but i got this error:

Quote:
Cannot find site files at http://viscotherapy.co.uk/. The specified site URL does not match the other publication settings.
*crys*

viscotherapy.co.uk was the test site where i was trying to publish the site into a folder called /test/

the reseller account it at www.sumariohosting.net (dont mind the unfinished, poor quality site - was not interested really in selling more accounts, only for clients )

Thank you in advance.

I think you need to publish the files to an FTP.. so ftp.domain.com
I have managed to user sitebuilder to publish with no issues.

This is what I use

publishing scenario - Publishing to known FTP host
Publication Mode: FTP
Host (IP address or DNS name): This is the server name you are hosted on, eg galaxy.myserverhosts.com
---
when the EU is publishing
they can specify the following:

Host (IP address or DNS name): ftp.domain.com
Web site URL: http://www.domain.com
(working directory depends on the FTP account you use. if setup only to access \test then leave blank, if the default FTP, you would need to put /public_html/test)
Working directory:\public_html\test
specify account: FTPUsername
Password
