Default Node 85 has been down for 5 hours

This is ridiculous.

I try not to be one of those clients that has a hissy-fit every time a server goes down for an hour or two - I know these things happen. But we're now over 5 hours into the Node 85 issue, and a client who just yesterday was literally the star of the show at a huge trade conference has now been without a way for people to follow-up on what they saw there for the five PEAK HOURS OF THE DAY in the Pacific time zone. It's like a new president just forgetting to show up for their inauguration.

"Nothing we can do," I'm told. How is it that we can't move to a new node when this one goes down for so long? Do we not have backups? Isn't that what they're for?! Why isn't there a plan for these situations?

Hi,

Believe me I completely understand. The issue is the motherboard failed and apparently the data center did not have another one to replace it. They are attempting to put the raid card and hard drives in another server at this time to get it back online.

If that does not work we will restore from our full backup we have which was taken this morning.

So if it's possible, why do we have to wait?!

Why not get the process started NOW, so that if what the data center is doing doesn't work, we're not another 3 hours behind?

That's exactly what I said.

Believe me, I am more then furious with the data center. I had them start setting up another server so we can start restoring just in case (something they should have done 4 hours ago)

The downtime on Hostnine servers is unbelievable, I never see my hostgator sites go down. It seems at least once a month one of my sites on my reseller account is offline for long enough that I'm pulling my hair out.

When my annual payment is due for renewal I'll be out of here.

Default Node 22 has been down for 12:30!

I am right there with you. Node 22 went down this morning, stopped responding about 4:55, and they started working on it about 5:25. It is now 5:49 pm, over 12 hours later, and all we have on the Thread is "This is back up and we are still working on the issues" from 6 hours ago!

Not a good day for ol' HostNine.

I was incredibly happy with them up until today. Now I'm just beside myself with frustration, and it seems like tech support is out to lunch for the past few hours, without any updates...

Everyone,

Please understand this is NOT our fault. This is the datacenter's fault 100% and we are doing everything in our power to get this back online. The server is now online and I am restoring everything from the old hard drive and it shouldn't take long at all. I'm doing the best that I can as well as the rest of the team but we have no physical access to this server. Had they handled it properly and took less then 5 hours to notify us and put a new server online this would have never lasted this long.

This type of thing can happen anywhere in the world and once again I deeply apologize for the inconvenience. I have been in hosting for the past 8 years and believe me I know how frustrating this is.

I will personally do everything I can to make up for this.

Please submit a ticket on node22 and I will look into it right away.

As far as I knew it was working properly.
