I had a question regarding reseller central. Since you can manually open accounts in different locations and migrate accounts back and forth, is it possible to use the reseller central platform to offer replication? For instance, my site could be replicated in two locations - California and UK. If one location goes down or is too congested, traffic is automatically redirected to the other location. Also, if data were to change at one location, it would migrate automatically to the other location. Is this possible with Reseller Central?

Already in the works :-)
It will be a premium addition to Reseller Central within the next few months. Basically we'll have two locations tired together on one. |

By premium, do you mean the monthly cost will be higher or if you have replication in two places, you just use twice the bandwidth and storage space?

HIya,
Premium addon as in, it will be an option that we can throw on or off in your reseller control panel for an additional fee. |

Would you say this is 6 months away or closer?
So in the scenario I described, this feature would be used as a backup. But are you planning to allow this feature to be used as a load balancer? Lets say I am hosting a large photo/video library for my club and the California server gets loaded down. Can the traffic be balance between the California and UK servers at all times, then if one server goes d?own the other assumes all the responsibility? |

HIya,
Under 6 months is a fair estimation So in the scenario I described, this feature would be used as a backup. But are you planning to allow this feature to be used as a load balancer? >> I suppose either, but we really havent decided anything about the feature yet. Lets say I am hosting a large photo/video library for my club and the California server gets loaded down. Can the traffic be balance between the California and UK servers at all times, then if one server goes d?own the other assumes all the responsibility? >> Like I said, nothing is concrete yet about this feature, so suggest it! http://forums.hostnine.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26 |
