Default Email Stability?

I'm considering moving my reseller account to H9. Currently, I am having chronic problems with client emails being returned because the shared server I am on is often blacklisted by spam database services (like Spamhaus). While my clients are not responsible for the blacklisting, they cannot rely on their email accounts. Is blacklisting a problem on H9 servers?

Also, I'm currently using AutoPilot (came free with the reseller account). Is there anyway to migrate to ModernBill (looks so much better) or will I have to move each client account over manually?

If H9 moves my account and clients to an H9 reseller account, is there a way to schedule when the move will take place? I would like to give my clients plenty of warning about downtime or potential problems. I would also like to perform backups of all client websites and databases just before the move.

Thanks!

Yes all Host9 servers are in the black list IP and because of that all emails that you send goes to the spam folder on all the email service provider..

Gee, is everyone around here so helpful? Perhaps I'll look elsewhere.

Opi,

I apologize for the postings made by jcws649. Hopefully I can clarify a few items with you.

When it comes to transferring your site it could not be easier with the services we offer. You can schedule us to complete a transfer at any time of the day, most prefer during early AM hours of the day. Just let us know how you would like that done.

I am not aware of a migration from AutoPilot to ModernBill, so you may have to do that manually. However it will be well worth it. ModernBill is a very powerful billing and account management system. I am sure you will find it meets all your needs quite well.

As for emails getting blacklisted, it does sometimes happen. It is a fact of life for shared hosting. However we do regularly check the black lists and ensure our servers are on the white lists for all major email providors. This includes hotmail, gmail, msn, yahoo, etc...

Let us know if you have any other questions, we look forward to providing you with an excellent hosting experience!

I have to say there was no "down time" when H9 moved my site. Move is not the correct word, copy (backup) and download / upload is more like it. Travis did a backup of my site on a host that did not have cPanel then loaded it to the new server (server2) quicker than I can think about it. (great job Travis) After a little test and tuneup I changed my domain record to point to H9. While it propagated some people saw the old site and some saw the new. No loss of service.

Mail can be a problem. Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail have real attitude problems!

Add Verizon and Comcast to that list of email providers with an attitude.

Verizon at least has a 'please remove me from your blacklist' option that is up front and easy to use.

Opi,

While H9 does an admirable job of relocating site/accounts, it is your responsibility to communicate to them all your requirements like # of dedicated IP's required for your client accounts and to double check with them that the resources necessary to complete your move are available before scheduling the transition

OOPS!!! I just tried sending again to Gmail and Hotmail and it went through as "normal", not delivered to the spam folder!! With gmail you can see the full header and it looks like it checks for a valid SPF record which was set up by Alex some weeks back.

Here is the SPF text record:
mydomain.org. 14400 IN TXT "v=spf1 a mx a:server2.hostnine.com ~all"

Thanks for all the helpful responses! I currently have cpanel, no clients with dedicated IP's...nothing real complicated. My main reason for leaving my current host is the problem with email. I realize shared servers are going to get blacklisted occasionally, but what I'm dealing with now is ridiculous. It's a daily problem and clients are getting irritated (rightfully so).

At some point I would like to move to a dedicated server so I can avoid these problems, but it's just not feasible at this time...hopefully within a year.

Thanks again for all of your input. I'm hoping to make the transition to H9 within the next month or so... I'm paid up with my current host through September or I'd move sooner.
