Default Excessive Domain Charge?

I was just completing a shared hosting account application but cancelled it after seeing that you want to charge me $40 for 2 year registration of a .co.uk domain.

Why do you charge so much?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think H9 really wants to develop as a domain reseller. If you are looking for cheap domains it is better to purchase one from a domain registrar (enom, namecheap etc.) and then change the DNS to your hosting account here.

Thanks for your input, sinohosting.
You may be right but why not say upfront that that is the intention. I felt a bit let-down by having it appear during my application. A little underhand, if you get my drift.
What are the pros & cons of using a domain registrar as opposed to registering with one's web host?

Well I never use the host for registering domains; if they disappear they take your domain along with your site.
What's the chance of someone like Godaddy disappearing?

We are required by our registrar to register .co.uk domains for at least 2 years and we do not mark them up at all due to the cost we endure on them. I don't understand how that makes you not want to host with us as someone pointed out you can purchase a domain within the UK much cheaper then choose the "I already own a domain" option during your sign up.

Thanks DeanClinton.
I guess it does seem logical when you look at it that way.

Where exactly did I say that I didn't want to host with you???

I felt it was a 'little underhand', that's all.

If you can't see that then you do have me worried!

Sorry,

I was just basing it off of the fact that you stopped the order ;-)

Didn't mean it in a negative way at all was just trying to help explain the situation more that's all.

If you are in the UK, get your domains for just under £7 from UKReg.
Remember minimum years is 2.
