I'm considering transferring by blog to your company after having had problems with my blog exceeding the allowed resources at its present host on some dates. Your plans provide far more GB monthly than I have now but I wonder if there are other issues also.
The blog currently has 2000-3000 page loads per day and uses just under 30 GB bandwidth per month. There are graphics on the site and YouTube videos but nothing huge such as video or audio hosted at the site. I'm concerned after reading comments on your forum about sites being suspended and wonder if you could tell if there would be any problem hosting a blog the size of mine with a plan such as your Standard Plan. |

Hiya,
2000-4000 is what I'd call the "red zone" for a wordpress blog causing problems with CPU/RAM resources. In our TOS, we allow 5% combined average for the two over a 24 hour period. When you're int he 2000-4000 you're going to be close or just over. We don't suspend "just over" sites unless there is an overload on the server. |

While I generally get 2000-3000 page loads per day, there are the rare days when a big blog links and I jump above this. If 2000-4000 is your "red zone" am I correct in assuming that if I have more days in which page loads are significantly above 4000 there is a high risk that this would lead to suspension?
I note that you said you allow 5% average. Another company has told me they suspend accounts if they exceed 10% of the resources. I'm wondering if this means they allow twice as much or would this comparison be erroneous such as by having a different total capacity which the percentage is based upon. Are there any objective numbers I might be able to use in comparing different companies? |

It depends what kind of CPU and RAM, but I will say that most smaller companies dont actually track it, we actually do and will show you the logs on request (if requested within 24 hours, as they override each day) to prove it.

I take that to mean that I probably would face suspension of my account if I had a day where it jumped to over 5000 page loads (as has happened very rarely), but that I might be better off with a smaller company which might not monitor for this???

Hi,
Be careful about a smaller company though as well, as you will probably face lengthier support times, and you never know really. You might be best getting a custom solution (from us even) for a semi-dedicated solution where 5000 hits is no problem. |

Yes, I was sort of joking about going to a small company and hoping they don't catch the traffic.
What type of solution can your company offer which might be able to handle my blog? |
