Its such a shame that Parallels wanted to stoop so low in giving out the information that they did - it puts people off as potential customers of theirs...

I'm lucky that I have 2 WHMCS licenses instead... I'd never want to deal with them if they could potentially say the same thing to my customers when things go belly up...

Being in the hosting industry for quite some time ModernBill has been around since I remember. A trusted and respected billing platform. I really do find it hard to believe that ModernBill would make a move like this. ModernBill has violated our trust and business relationship, worst yet they have violated every person who was the recipient of that email. The facts as to why we switched from ModernBill to WHMCS should have been included in that email instead of the outright lie they chose to tell.

During the development of our first release of the Reseller Central platform we were in contact with the ModernBill developers about getting custom modules created to allow interaction with the platform. We all know having this free software with your account is cool and all, but when it cannot do the job intended it looses all luster. We had a rocky few months with getting ModernBill to function properly with RC. Finally we started looking for alternatives. We contacted WHMCS and with no fuss and hassle they had working modules built right into their platform. For our client's sake we had no other choice, ModernBill dragged their feet while WHMCS was more than willing to work with us.

ModernBill is an incredibly advanced and powerful billing platform, with that comes a somewhat difficult installation. For anyone who has done it a few times the process doesn't take more than a few minutes. However for a novice it can be somewhat intimidating. Given also that the documentation isn't very helpful at times. WHMCS on the other hand is comparatively much easier to install, and from there it is just creating packages and setting up the RC API key.

I agree with Ace, if Parallels wanted to promote their product a simple email stating whats changed, whats new, and an offer to gain back those clients. Instead of defaming I only wish they would put forth the same effort in developing a product that is more user and admin friendly as they do in sending out defamatory emails. If ModernBill had really wanted or appreciated the user base we had developed here at HostNine they would have put more than zero effort into getting their platform to work with ours.

Lets face it we all knew once Modernbill was acquired by Plesk was going to turn to s h i t Excuse the launguage ben - Plesk went as far as announcing that they are "Renaming" the product and dumping the Mbill name

Every product plesk acquires gets into trouble

Mbill had no right to send that email, in fact they would be in so much trouble in NZ, around 8 laws i think they brok

Oh I really can't be bothered to go out into one.... but the short and narrow, I have never liked modernbill....I spent longer fixing errors than sales pitches. MB wanted a big and bulky feeling...yep they got that alright. ModernBill are shit! and I very much think MB have lost a a huge user base... because who don't love WHMCS.

I'm sure many would agree, thank you Ben and team for a professional approach to this and you obviously thought this over.

i also recieved this email.

i have a problem installing MB... and i get tired. im almost 1yr now in H9 and still have to setup my billing system. too lazy. i'll see if this WHMCS is easy to install and manage. I wonder if theres a coupon/discount for renewal my RC.

Since MB is now Plesk. i'm no fan of plesk... i'm more of Cpanel. MB will be pain for Cpanel users.
