So I've been a little confused on how to get the information needed to request an SSL cert (http://www.hostnine.com/ssl-install/). Yes, I already have the dedicated IP.
I realize that there are sites like verisign, thawte, etc... but right now I'm looking at something a little more affordable. OpenSSL seemed like something that might beable to provide what I needed, but wasn't sure how to use it. CACert.org has a service the generates the CRT, but not the private kay or the CA Bundle. I looked in cpanel under ssl and it lookes like it, too, can provide the information. Is there someone who can explain this to me further? What I need, what I don't need. I don't think I'll be able to get the cert 'signed' for a while...do I need to? (yes, I know in the optimum situation this would be ideal). Thanks |

I got my SSL Cert from godaddy for 20 bucks. H9 support installed it for me in very short order. Seems to work just fine. Don't see a better value anywhere else.
You'll need the files provided by whoever you purchase your SSL Cert from to give to H9 support so they can install it on your account. There are different levels of SSL available but unless you're doing a large amount of payment processing via a 3rd party gateway then I don't see a need for the "enhanced" security.
