Default Centralized Network Information

So yesterday I spent a few hours working on this and getting it put together. What I wanted to do was make a central location for all of our network related issues such as reboots, outages, migrations etc

HostNine :: Network News

It basically replicates all of our forum posts related to the network so both locations always have the same data but some users wanted an RSS feed etc

The ultimate goal is to come up with a system that will notify customers via email when there's been a reboot, outage, etc automatically. We plan on building this into Reseller Central and our admins will post reboots, outages, and any other server related issue directly in Reseller Central for the affected data center or node. If it's something that will affect you it will automatically send you an email and put a post on HostNine :: Network News

Please let me know what you think

Would we get emails just related to the nodes we are on or would we get an email everytime any news on a node gets posted?

Basically you get emails related to any nodes affecting you. So as a reseller if you have a domain on node5 and node5 is being rebooted you will get an email about the reboot and it will get posted to network.hostnine.com. I just got off the phone with Travis and we're going to try and implement an SMS option too so you can login to RC and under settings set an SMS address.

Also, let's say we have to recompile apache on node5 and you have a domain on node5 it will email you as a Server Update and explain the update being done as well as the time it's going to take.

Also, let's say in your case you use New York and our data center sends us an email saying they are doing network maintenance, we add that into RC and it emails you letting you know about the maintenance etc

SMS is a text message that would be sent to a mobile number you would have the option to set within RC.

For sure. Email will be there first, SMS is just optional we're going to offer in the future.

I am all for this, but I check the forum daily/hourly and would also check HostNine :: Network News

Anything to improve communication is wonderful.

For sure. The network.hostnine.com will be updated instantly when new posts are made by techs. Not many people use the forums so we need a better way to communicate. We'll have email alerts sent out every time along with network.hostnine.com which will be hosted on several different data centers to prevent outages.
