Default ISP's worldwide blocking SMTP mail

I and many others have been experiencing being blocked by our Isp provider, now 15 days and unable to send mail through SMTP port however I configure it, I use outlook express. have complained but to no avail.

I have checked many sources using google, many people worldwide are having the same problem, unfortunately am not able to change isp's due to my location, even mail servers direct to H9 servers being blocked, receiving mail is no problem through pop3.

Is there any other way to go round my isp, would getting a dedicated isp solve the problem?

Many ISP's block SMTP Port 25

Have you tried setting the SMTP Port to 26 in OutlookExPress?

A dedicated IP address wouldn't work in this case. Typically ISP's do this to force you to send email through them. They should be able to offer you mail servers to use to send from your computer.

Of course the problem with this is your email being sent is not going through our servers, thus is not saved on our servers (unless you use webmail). Maybe if enough users complain the ISP's may change their mind, however this is doubtful, they enjoy having control.

Correction: A dedicated IP from HostNine would not solve this, however one from your ISP may.

I used to have an ISP who blocked port 25 unless you got a static IP with them.

Thats half the trouble normally, they don't have the control they could, there's so many "n00b" ISP's.

Ability to use port 26 is one of the reasons I came to H9, my local ISP blocks port 25. In my travels I have not found one that blocks port 26.

Try this test to see if they are really blocking port 26

>telnet mydomain.tld 26 ... or
>telnet mail.mydomain.tld 26 ..use your own domain name .. or even try
>telnet node58.myserverhosts.com 26

adding the 26 to the telnet command forces port 26, you should see the following reply:

220-node58.myserverhosts.com ESMTP Exim 4.69 #1 Mon, 15 Sep 2008 20:41:30 -0500
220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited,
220 and/or bulk e-mail.

type >quit< to exit and see:

221 node58.myserverhosts.com closing connection

Thanks Guys, yes I tried this telnet test also, but still blocked on all, Had the service guy here at my PC and connections, by the way I have a wireless connection to the base station, he's telling me all reasons for the failure, packet loss, lancard, and more, I did a complete benchtest and everything is normal, even changed lancard.

What I am wondering now is, in my net connection I have DCHP enabled, when I look at the connection software the isp is using (CANOPY) I see that DCHP is disabled, could this be the problem? I am not able to change this as it needs a service login

Otherwise I have no problem with my internet and incoming mail on pop3.
Using a dialup just now for outgoing mail

Once again guys, thanks for you response.

Update

Well now able to send mail again, It pays complain strongly, the ISP was blocking all smtp ports, but thanks to a lot of my webmaster companions using the same Isp, sent a strong message, assured them that would boycott them if they refused to comply, there excuse was that to much mail was blocking their servers, seems that they have taken on to many subscribers and their systems can't handle the traffic, unfortunately we can only use port 25, hopefully in the future they will see the error of their ways.
