unallocated space?
i have a wd caviar 300gb drive and had a partition on it. it was split into 2x150gb drives. i just deleted one of the partitions cause i had no use for it and it was empty. now i have 150 gb of unallocated space. can i add this space to the primary partition?

not without reformating your primary drive, or you could try setup Raid

There are tools to assist you with this and I have been using Acronis tools for several years but there are others Acronis partition manager can bee seen at
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...titioning.html Pay attention to the "Key features" on the above page and specifically: "Resize, copy, and move partitions without losing data"
