I have owned a computer repair and service company for 10 years now (our 10 year anniversary was last week
). With that background, I have obtained many certifications... Everything from an MCSE to a CCNA and back to MCDBA (when it was around). This led me to wonder whether there is any real benefit in getting a Linux+ or LPI cert. Does anybody here have one? Does it do you any good? Also, does anybody know of any dev certs worth getting? I would think that a dev cert would help in obtaining projects and showing that I am not some kid who downloads template, types a few paragraphs, and calls himself a developer. Thoughts? |

Comparing scars...
I was a Beta lanman user through lanman 1.0, 2.0, NT3.0, etc. Worked with MS Steve Balmer on this Converted the corp I worked for MIS from Netware to NT(Kicking and screaming) All prior to any certification programs at MS I have not seen any Cert prog for Unix or linux nor any for web designers but have not really been looking. It seems to be a "Caveat Emptor" environment. I agree that some type of credentials system would be beneficial in validating that one is at a minimum, accredited at some level even though this does not mean that you have integrity. Would not have an idea on how to establish any program??? Maybe a great question for Source Forge or?
