Exclamation Important Support Security Updates

Greetings,

HostNine LLC is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our customer's accounts. In our efforts to ensure your security, we have implemented a new security procedure when dealing with password information.

Effective immediately, we ask that all customers no longer provide raw/unencrypted password information via email or support ticket.

As many of you may already be aware, email is not a secure method of communication, and any password information you provide to our helpdesk is not stored in an encrypted fashion. With our existing system, if someone had your logins to the support system or billing system, or if our support database were somehow compromised, all passwords that you have provided to HostNine would be available to that person in an unencrypted format. With our new system in place, all that person would have access to would be your Password Key - which is useless to anybody but our staff as only our staff are able to decrypt a Password Key.

We wish to emphasize that no password information or other confidential data has been compromised and there is no immediate threat that requires the implementation of these changes. However, HostNine feels that it is never too soon to implement new measures to ensure the security of your confidential data.

As always we strongly recommend that all of our customers use secure passwords and change them frequently. This is the best possible way to ensure that your account is not compromised.

To obtain a secure Password Key to provide to support please see:
https://secure.hostnine.com/passkey/

If you have a VPS/VDS or dedicated server with us please keep your root password on file with us at all times by using:
https://secure.hostnine.com/password/

If you have any questions feel free to open a support ticket.

We thank you for your business and look forward to serving you in the future!
