Default Possible Location Changes

Due to the lack of support from the data centers in Georgia, Virginia, and Florida we are thinking about moving them to a larger/more reliable data center such as the planet or softlayer. The outage the planet had a week ago was the biggest outage in history and is very unusual but at the same time we feel they handled better than anyone else ever could.

My main question is how much would that affect you?

We would combine the following locations into Texas: Virginia, Georgia, Florida

We would then have the following locations available:

Berkshire (UK)
California (USA)
Illinois (USA)
New York (USA)
Singapore (ASIA)
Texas (USA)

Then we would add Australia so that would be available as well. It's just reboots are taking way too long, we've had way too many issues with response times in general and it's really starting to hurt our customers and at the end of the day you're our top priority and we want to make sure we can provide you with the best possible service and support available.

Also due to the discounts we receive at the planet we would purchase more powerful servers which end up costing us the same price as the other data centers we use. That way there are more resources available for your website(s).

Perfect Example of the issues: node41, the data center was claiming we were receiving a huge attack causing the constant null route of the server. Well we moved it to Texas at the planet and have not noticed one issue what so ever. We also setup bandwidth monitoring on the entire server in between a few of the null routes and were unable to correspond data with their allegations on the attack. That really hurt our business and more importantly yours. In order for us to live up to the 99.9% uptime and service we sell you we need to work with reliable companies that are there for us day in and day out.

The Planet also has Cisco Guard which is a $50,000.00 DDoS Mitigation Appliance which they stick in front of a server during an attack and it immediately blocks the offending IP's at a hardware level.

That is just one of the benefits of using the planet so please reply to this thread as soon as possible with your input on this idea.

Just PLEASE let us know if this is going to happen and when BEFORE you do it so that we can plan, be available and address any issues that may arise.

Unlike in the recent past.

Please make a seperate topic if you feel that way, but I don't see how that would be the case, but if you do it in another topic I'll be happy to address it

Thought that Ben was asking "How this might affect us" and this was my 2 cents
It is not how I feel - It is what has transpired...

That's fine, we're looking at the more technical aspects here, would it affect your clients, and your offerings, etc...

Yes,

I meant as far as your offerings. We would still have several servers in each location so it will still act the same. We will also have the servers spread out across multiple buildings at the planet in case one building has an issue etc

When servers are moved to the new location we will information everyone days in advance. It will be a seamless move with no DNS updates etc

I don't mind Ben, as long as everything is reliable and uptime is good.

Ben,

Please dont take Illinois away, I like that location the best .. For others, I dont care becuase some of them are slow or alot of high resources. I never had a problem with Illinois nodes, its the best for me. I will NEVER bother Virginia, Georgia and Florida because they are the worst! For Texas, I wouldn't touch their either. I rather Illinois

Just my 2 cents ..
