Default Changing server domain.

Howdy,

A minor question really, is it possible to change the domain name of a server while in production?

What kind of problems can I expect?

If I wanted to do this, how big of a task is it?

Example. serv1.mydomain.com to serv1.myotherdomain.com

Thanks for your time.

While I have not done this, this is what I envision as the tasks:

WHM > Networking Setup > Hostname > Change Hostname
And check/assign WHM > Networking Setup > Nameserver IPs
Also check WHM > Server Configuration > Basic cPanel/WHM Setup
Not sure if these values are drawn from other settings

Now you need to also change/add "registered" nameservers to your myotherdomain.com at the registrar.

All of your accounts if set to point to "ns1&2.myfirstdomain.com"
Must now be changed to ns1&2.serv1.myotherdomain.com.

Other than that, there should be no other issues

Might be easiest to request this via support??
And you do the other things required

Sounds good, just wasnt sure if something totally out of control would take place if I changed it.

I currently control all of the customer domains on my server via my srs control panel. Changing NS's would be a simple mass task, a couple clicks and its good.
