Hello,
I can't view files or directories that being with a "." like .htaccess This is not an issue with my ftp program, because I have access to other servers and can view the files fine. It's only an issue with hostnine servers. So is this a setting on the server or something along those lines? I'm confused because there is no option in my ftp program, ws_ftp professional, to hide or display the files as they are always shown, and all other servers display the hidden files. Can anybody else confirm they can see files/directories like this in their ftp program? |

I use filezilla and there is under the "View" tab a "View hidden files" option and the .htaccess files are indeed visible...
Sorry, I do not use ws_ftp professional. |

Thanks for the reply. What server are you on you by chance?
I'm just really confused by all of this as my ftp program displays the hidden files on other severs fine, just not hostnine's. There is no option to choose to display or not display the files because it displays them all by default. I have no idea what other issue it would be. The files are there as I can see them through SSH and used to display fine when my sites were hosted elsewhere last week. Strange. |

LeeUm,
Sorry, just got back to this,,, I hope that you have this sorted by now but if not you can google for filezilla and download the app as this has the option and displays the "hidden" files. |

I still haven't sorted this out. Kinda just gave up at the moment as it isn't a major issue but rather just an annoyance.
It's not my ftp program as it can display hidden files and does so with other servers. It seems to just be a problem on the hostnine servers. I've been using ws_ftp for 6-7 years and won't switch as I've grown used to it and like it. Thanks for the suggestion though. I guess I'll just leave it be as there isn't much else I can do. |

That did it, thanks!
As I've said before, I've been using ws_ftp for so many years. I remember back in the day I had to manually add "-a" to view hidden files each time. Then as upgrades and new versions came, the feature was built in by default and it just automatically showed. The reason this threw me for such a loop was that it was working fine with no extra commands, then I switched to hostnine and they disappeared. Other hosting accounts still displayed it. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with hostnine's ftp settings and what are displayed by default. I'm not sure exactly but I know that other servers I connect to display them without the "-la". Anyways, thanks again. I'll be sure to include that with all my accounts. |
