Default Something worrying about mail

Guys
I am having a big problem with mail on a few of my packages.

My hubby tried to send via his email which is on one of my packages the other day to admin@myweb.co.uk now this is on OneandOne server and i use it constantly sending and receiving emails, but all emails now from my hostnine package seem to give the same error. Mailserver error, admin not found..the same happens with any of the emails to this domain...but works to hotmail??

Why are they not being delivered? There are no spam catchers or any thing set to stop the galaxy server

Hi,

While myweb.co.uk is hosted with 1and1 do you have it added on the galaxy server? If so, that is the problem. If you have a domain on our servers but have nameservers pointed somewhere else it will attempt to deliver mail locally.

I thought it might be something like that

It's the last of two i have left to transfer to hostnine, and it's a biggy with a database, and i am loathed to mess it up, as its in full swing.

I have created an account on my hostnine ready for it, and would have like to have transfered everything over checked it over before, then change the dns, is that possible?

I read somewhere that you can request a 'temporary something' from a new hosting company, sorry can't remember exact name..brain fried at moment from sending out newsletter last night..4 hours sleep not good

I can get into package via my holistic hosting panel, set up database but i can't figure a way of uploading files to server...any suggestions would be great, because i know there is going to be errors and i am sooo green when it comes to these things

Related to problems with mail, today I sent out an email to a membership base of 1500. It only delivered half and then stalled. Do we have a limit on how much mail we can send?

Hi,

The limit is currently 200 per domain per hour.

What do we do if we have a big list? Can we get the limit raised?

Jen:

If I were you, I would avoid sending that much mail traffic. LOL.

But if it was absolutly nessesary for me to do so all on the same day to those same 1500 people I would use groups of 200, and write a program to send them for me Once every so many minutes until it ran out of groups to send to.

I would imagine the 200 limit is to ensure the servers do not get bogged down, or remain so for an overly long period of time.

Personally, for the sake of server speed/ server stability I rather like it nice and low. It is sure to prevent spam mailers from coming here, and mucking up host 9's server speeds.

Jennifer, you can use a list program that spreads the deliver over few hours, thus it would take like 8 hours to get that delivered. I used one that was free and kind of a standard in this field, year or two ago, and it did exactly that.

Other than that, there are specialized list management services out there, and most of the big lists that I have been subscribed to, use those services.

I agree, say no to spam... and save some bandwidth for the rest of us.

Do you actually have 1500 people asking you to email them ?
