Default Sending mass emails

I have just moved a vbulletin forum to my account (6000 members), i need to inform my clients members that the board has changed URL via 'email users' option in vBulletin. but last time my client sent a mass-email via his board H9 disabled his account for almost 2 days because of email spam ..

My question is, is there an option to get around this, for example sending say 100-300 emails per hour or something?

If possible, it's better to use a redirect from the old location to the new location.

I don't know if vBulletin has an email "throttle" as I don't use it.

To my knowledge the H9 limit is 200 per hour

I might move my big board away from H9, pretty much if you have a big board with 1000's of members your crippled with H9, because if u try to email your members u will get labelled a spammer and have your account suspended.

First i will look into a modification for vBulletin to send 200 emails per hour if they have such a mod.

Ok luckily i found this mod for vBulletin (ill link it here for anyone else with a big vBulletin board)

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=133844

What it does is allow you to send say 200 emails per hour, instead of emailing 6000 members at once.

All i need to do now is find out from H9 what there max hourly rate is for sent emails.

How many emails can I send?
Solution You can send a maximum of 500 emails per domain name per hour. If you exceed that limit you will start to receive unrouteable domain name errors.

What if I have a mailing list with 2,000 emails?

If you have a large mailing list you will need to use software such as PHPList to send out your mailing list while using the Rate Limiting feature within the software."

Found that in the Knowledgebase.

Remember to leave some room to send normal emails. Don't max out the 500 in VB unless you don't email from that domain at all.

phpmailer is a cute idea but don't you have to initiate the email from a web-interface and not a mail utility?

That is, it would be impossible to forward out an email you got directly to a phpmailer email list (please correct me if I'm wrong!).

Thanks,

Brian
