Arrow Anybody else on COMET having HIGH server load?

Anybody here on Comet experiencing very high server load between 3:00 AM - 5:00 Los Angeles time EVERYDAY? I've been checking my server uptime from WHM and it's always high during these hours

http://comet.myserverhosts.com:2086/scripts/servup

My client has customers in London, UK who use shopping cart and she's been getting complains about downtime issue. Now I get the complains too.

Yesterday I checked, and apparently the server load got as high as around 76.42 (yes, that's seventy six)! The highest I've ever seen in my entire life in any hosting ever! Then exim, spamd, httpd, all start failing. Then in 5 - 10 minutes it's slowly coming back to normal.

I've been sending tickets but I always get the same response, and I understand it still meets the 99.9% criteria but having 3-5 minutes downtime everyday isn't fun. It does get fixed, but what happens is people lose the content of the shopping cart and they do get VERY annoyed..

So... back to the question, anybody else having issue with Comet server?

Hello: I'm in Ky. and just spoke to Travis by Live Chat and he said they were looking into it. I also noticed high loads on Comet this morning(18.48) and I had a "spamd-Failed" and also a "pop-Failed"
and I am showing a Disk sda2(/var) at 88% flashing a yellow light. Maybe they will get it worked out today. I hope.

Yes. They've been like this since June though. But it was okay after a while, now it's getting worse. The disk /var (sda2) is okay with the yellow light - it means that it's 88% full. But what worries me is 76.42 CPU LOAD! On my other reseller, the max is 4 or 5.

I'm on Mercury... Its had a very bad few days Everything is up and down like a bride's nightie.

They said somewhere its a hardware issue, so at least they are working on it. Although that doesn't help my work and my customers.

I could have sworn earlier the CPU load on Mercury was 364... I thought it only went upto 100%?

Hi,

Not to worry. I am working on this with Alex and it will be taken care of. It appears to be a set of cronjobs causing the overload

Thumbs up

Hi Ben,
Thank you for looking at it. How can I be assured that httpd and popd and mysqld has very very minimal downtime? Because people in UK and Asia (Japan, Singapore) are in a different timezones and when this thing happens, it's happening during the day when there are many people surfing or shopping on the site...

The reason the servers may be a bit overloaded at that time could also be due to the fact that each account is backed up. That can cause the servers load to increase. As Ben said though, they've been working on it.

Please also realize that when you see the services being shown as down in cPanel, it could be wrong. It's probably correct, but if chkservd is down, then the "Service Status" in cPanel is incorrect.

Lastly, chkservd doesn't update very fast, so it's not 100% accurate. All in all, we are working on the high load issues.

Im reseller - idwebhosting.ca - on Comet
Im from Canada New-Brunswick and I can tell you that im having all these issues as well, i sent numerous emails to H9 about it, the server load is always crazy and email will be timeout error/or pop failed... most of the service in WHM are in red when these thing happen, FTP is also reallly slow to connect and when he connect it takes for ever to send a file, its sucks because the services is good but the "uptime" isnt good for me, because im getting complaints every day about emails..anyways i send so many emails and talk with so many tech online that i dont know what to do anymore, its really annoying!!! But H9 is working on it and monitoring everything from what i got in my emails, but how long it will takes, its been months now...
