Question Adjust Server time - for AU reseller

Hi,

I have put in a ticket to find out whether or not I can have my website's server times adjusted to Australia/Sydney, or at least not over ride my htaccess when i do a setenv TZ australia/sydney command.

I have tried through .htaccess but I think that the PHP settings on Crater over ride this.

I am STRICTLY selling web design and hosting services for Australian registered businesses, which is proving to be very hard to do because Host9 have informed me that, in their words... "..nothing we can do.."

They asked me to write code to augment the time, which I have done for one of my hosted OsCommerce sites, but it is extremely tedious, and breaks a calander system I have installed for customers to choose delivery date (it is for fruit boxes, so customers need to choose a date and time) and this is going to make it almost not worth my while.

I have spent money and time implementing the H9 reseller solution paying for ModernBill mod services and transferring my sites over to H9.

I would like to know if ANYONE has been able to change the local time for their websites on H9 and how?

I have trawled the forums and not found any solutions...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmmm... I am not sure this is possible. The settings come from the root of the server and only the admin could change it.

Oh no.... I am up the proverbial creek then... I am selling osCommerce systems that rely on accurate time/date order times...

I am hoping there is a solution because I cant afford to leave H9 and start up again after all the time/money I have spent on this project...

Plus, H9 is perfect for my business in every way - except the time! I would have thought this would be an issue for many other resellers as well, as H9 is offering international customers reselling..

I would hope there is a solution to this... if there are any other international resellers, how you you dealing with this obvious problem?

There should be a configuration setting to set the date/time for your osCommerce install in relation to GMT

php based app?

If php5, use date_default_timezone_set('what-ever-timezone')

http://www.php.net/manual/en/functio...mezone-set.php

crater does not have a default timezone setup so php5 spits out an error when you use time functions without calling the above routine.

There is a user-entered comment that provides a php4/php5 solution.

Thanks for your posts - yes, PHP based app, oscommerce... I have manually installed an oscommerce contribution to change the time +15 hours of the server time to match the time here in Sydney, Australia.

I was hoping for a more elegant solution like the setenv TZ in htaccess to that change the way apache reported the time so that there was no need to manually account for the time change on other modules i have installed...

Anyway, thanks for your posts - i will investigate them now! Much appreciated.

Hi - still cannot get this to work... I have added a contribution to osCommerce that offsets the time +15 hours but that affects numerous other snippets and also the email server is still showing U.S time.

I am hoping that someone at Host9 can look into this as I can be sure that it will affect hosting for all their international resellers. It is impractical to have to have to combat this issue for every client when there should be a fairly easy solution.

I have my H9 setup perfect now, all my cPanel and WHM tied into ModernBill and all of my promotional pages written...

To have to leave H9 over something like server time not being able to be adjusted is going to be very disappointing and a time/money wasting exercise.

I have spent countless hours on this, and don't even know if i am wasting my time because it may impossible to achieve.

I'm desperate. Any help, I am willing to pay to have this working.

Hi,

We cannot change it for everyone, that's an unacceptable solution.

or

Any questions about this? PM me please
