Default So many migration problems :'-(

While I do understand that there is bound to be some hiccups during such a large scale migration it is becoming beyond a joke.

First it was a missing database and then some missing data, that was ok I got through to support and it was fixed.

Now one of our sites has fallen into a black hole, the migration was started from Node71 on the 19th and it is still being migrated now...

How can it take sooooo long for a site with around 10kb of files and 1 mx record to migrate.

When I go in via RC I still get pointed to node71 but with no domain linked to it, it just says "yourdomain.com"

I cannot fix the MX records that have been lost as it says there is no domain selected.

I am now having to go through every single one of our reseller accounts to check every single aspect form missing files, databases and MX records.

Is there no quality control?

Now that my rant is over I would like to thank H9Ben for all his support!

Cheers,
Dean

Dean,

This is the first I've heard of these issues. Do you have a ticket open on this?

I have already lodged a ticket, #356558.

The reason for this post is to see if anyone else is having issues too.

The response I got to the ticket was "We are migrating that server now", although the migration for that server was on the 19th, and it wasn't due to a migration in process it was that a problem had occurred during the migration.

The second response was a "read this forum post" which confirmed that the migration was on the 19th and that it was a live migration with no downtime.

I was also told that I would have been sent an email (which no email came through for the specified domain) telling me to change the IP. There was no email and the domain was pointing to the SpeedyDNS name servers so it should have all been automatic.

I have always been happy with the HostNine support as I usually get a pretty straight answer straight away, but this time is seems as though the buck has been passed a few times.

I do appreciate that you must be getting heaps of tickets with problems but from my perspective it shouldn't affect the quality of the support.

Cheers,
Dean

Default Agree with Dean (andd not just because my name is Dean ;) )

"The reason for this post is to see if anyone else is having issues too."

Oh man am I having problems. I have sites that go down or a hr every day or two.

I installed a blog yesterday and can only reach the database half the time. Is the 'Load' column in the View Node Status page what load MY domain is placing on the server or the server in general? I have a domain googleplexblogs.net and it's showing 13.75 for the first load figure.

I have a domain webprofiter.com that I recently purchased and sent to speedydsn.net and I have NO idea why it's unreachable.

Lemme give you a for example. I have a domain googleplexblogs.org. I just installed a fantastico wordpress blog on it and everything went fine. As part of the blog creation, the last page gives me a link so that I can get to the admin page of the blog. Yet even from that link from fantastico that 3 seconds before set the blog up, the admin page is unreachable, nor is the main page accessible.

Problems? Oh man are there problems!!! I haven't logged any of them because being a 25 year veteran as a professional computer consultant I understand that technology sometimes glitches out and I kept expecting things to get better.

But it's been weeks now and things aren't getting better, they're getting worse.

I sure hope some order comes out of the chaos soon. Hard to set up a business if you don't know from hour to hour if your site is going to be available or not.

Dean,

Your issues aren't related to the migration at all. You're having site issues on node43.

Please email support@hostnine.com about this.

googleplexblogs.org has the same IP as node52. It doesn't have an index page in the doc root (public_html) directory.

..........Pinging googleplexblogs.org [208.43.106.13] with 32 bytes of data:
Pinging node52.myserverhosts.com [208.43.106.13] with 32 bytes of data:

webprofiter.com is set up in a subdirectory (http://www.googleplexblogs.org/webprofiter/) and comes us as a subdomain webprofiter.googleplexblogs.org/ .

Looks like a configuration problem with something in the wrong directory(s)

It looks like the nameservers do not know about webprofiter.com. Did you enter it in c-Panel so the H9 nameservers can find it?

Here is the report from intodns.com:
intoDNS: webprofiter.com - check DNS server and mail server health
