Can someone clue me in on this ?
Will a subdomain contribute to its root domain as far as search ranking ie is sub.domain.com same as domain.com/sub/ so by having a site as a sub.domain all pages here will contribute to the overall search ranking of the root domain ? or will it have its own status to maintain |

Subs are different than the main account as far as Google sees this...
I tried to submit a couple of links to a sub in my site map submission to Google and an "error" along the lines of this is not part of the domain was generated. Summation: they are treated as distinct domains with their own ranking |

They are totally different, thus Google rank them separately.
