Default Asterisk / Trixbox

Hello,

This may be a very off-topic question....

Has any of you guys installed either Trixbox or Asterisk or been messing around with this? I have been trying to install this on a spear computer i have been it does not want to play with me I can install it correctly but when the server boots up i get a whole load of errors. I have tried the 2.0 and 2.2 and burn't the ISO image at 1x to make sure everything goes on.

I have tried the trixbox forums and those guys on there seem very helpful. I am planning to install a PBX at the office and replace my home phone line with VOIP (trial at home) I got Windows vista today so i am going to install this on the server (office) and then install the VMWare with trixbox.

Wish me luck!

I could not get Trixbox to work. But i got asterisk now to install and i have configured it. Its a powerfull application, The beauty of this i can have our 3 lines going through and room to expand.

Its so easy to customize too. Also asterisk now is still in beta

I have changed my mind about Asterisk Beta That is buggy. I am going to have another go at installing Trix tomorrow. I have tried with my laptop and a old computer i got on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Shuttle-X-Desk...ayphotohosting

I like the snoms but at the minute i have 2 linkseys pap2's. They are easy to configure and you can get two lines on each. I used eye-beam when i first started but i noiced the sound quaility was not good using a pc headset.

I'll let you know how it gets on (touch wood)
What do you guys use?

We use the Cisco 7960G at the office and myself and Alex use eye beam at home (just incase ) If you have a decent headset the quality is actually pretty good. But sounds like you are going in the right direction as far as set up.

Neat.... Cisco is a good brand. I found this neat site http://asterisktutorials.com/ for tutorials setting up asterisk. I am also looking to use the trixx (if i get it working) as a file server as well.

As telephone wise we use BT paragon 450 + headsets.

I've been looking at tribox myself (newbie), do you need to sign up with a service provider or is there a list somewhere on their site?
