Default What web creation software do you use?

I was wondering what software everyone uses, dreamweaver, netfusion? Currently, I use Serif WebPlus 10 which is more an entry-level wysiwyg but has more than enough options for the type of webpages I will be creating, no flash screens but very simple pages.

Also, do you prefer to use a template or do your own designs (excepting JT because I know he does his own)?

I guess I'm asking because I see some very professional designs here and just wondering if they were created using a template.

If you want to see my page [link]www.pwd.uplandandwaterfowl.com[/link] this is the market I'm going for.

Hmm, my original post was deleted... anyway...

Personally I use Dreamweaver for its code highlighting, ftp, and it guessing what tag you are planning on entering. I never use the WYSIWYG function although because the code that it outputs is horrible. I prefer to code everything by hand.

Also every website that I have created was from scratch, although that doesn't mean that I am against using templates. Sometimes it is a good thing to use if you want your website up quickly with a small budget. It is much cheaper and quicker than having to pay a designer/developer to create the website for you.

quneur,

As your site seems to be a "Web Design" site - I wonder why you are asking this??

Maybe just us old "crusty's" but we hand code our sites for "lean-mean" code.

DW and any others that I have seen create "bloated" code and at times do things that I would never include...

Maybe cause I'm a bit unsure of my design skills . I see some very good designs in the review section and i'm wondering if they were made using templates.

I use to do that back in '94 or was it '95? I'm way too lazy and old to learn again. I'd have to learn JSP and CSS.

Like eddus, I use Joomla for my sites. Joomla always uses a template but there's so many free templates available it's sometimes hard to find the one I need.

When editing/customizing templates I use Dreamweaver for editing html/php for the code highlighting and FTP (as mentioned by meltingcube) and Photoshop for editing images. I recently also got Fireworks but haven't got around to learn how to use it yet.

I rarely create a template from scratch. It's much less time consuming to start with a well coded template and modifying it to suit the need.

thats what i love from WCMS software like joomla, drupal or wordpress it does a LOT OF WORK in case some programming is required there are a lot of components (like 90% freewere), wrappers for scripts and websites/apps integration, the only thing some does, is configure, install components and build the template. (they fun part). possibilities are endless.

for me,
before joomla, things good looking could take like 4-7 days
after joomla, 1-2 days! and every time something needs to be changed (menus, contents, funcionality, etc) could take like 1 hour or less.
