How long does it take to reboot a server? it's been 45 minutes now

If the OS decides on boot that the disks need to be checked for consistency it can take quite a while to reboot. That is not something that can be controlled, or even predicted.

This wasn't just a regular reboot. Both DNS servers (ns1 and ns2) decided to go offline at the same time. We're looking into the cause, and all updates will be posted in our thread above.

Thanks Nick, I was not aware it had to re-propagate, maybe different wording in the outage post.

It doesn't have to re-propagate per se, however, the DNS zones do need to reload on the DNS server. Due to the huge number of domains we host, that can take a bit of time to complete.
