The Cpanel full backups are not working on atleast node32, 40 do not rely on them. This issue I guess is being worked on, please be aware. They are either corrupt or missing data.

This is something cPanel is working on. We do have our daily backup system (which I completely rewrote from the ground up this week) running and monitored 24/7 to ensure everything is backed up.

If you rely on your own Cpanel backups:
Check and see if your Cpanel is working, do a full backup from Cpanel...once complete download, open the backup, there will be a homedir.tar file inside that backup that is the file that is corrupt or missing files. Greg V |

I emailed Joshua who used to work for H9 (H9Joshua) but now works for Cpanel, this is what he said.
On Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 5:32 PM, Greg V wrote: Hello Joshua H9's full Cpanel backups are not working, the homedir.tar is corrupt or missing data, this does not happen with all accounts. Are you aware of this and what can you tell me about it? Greg V Joshua replied with: It's a known Windows issue with CPanel backups. If you unzip it on a linux or mac machine it'll do fine. We've (CPanel) opened a report with Microsoft about it, and hope they fix it soon ![]() Another question for Joshua: On Wed, Jan 14, 2009 at 7:21 PM, Greg V wrote: But the backup file is good? just cannot open it up on a windows os machine or it will appear corrupted? (the homedir.tar file) Thanks Joshua Greg V Answer: Yep, it'll work fine on any other OS, and will work fine when restoring. A big thanks goes out to Joshua for clearing this up, and help putting H9 clients at ease. Greg V |
