Red face Coppermine Gallery

Hi there,
I have a coppermine gallery with nearly 5000 pictures hosted elsewhere but I'm not very happy with my host so I'm thinking of moving.. the reason I haven't done so yet it's because of my gallery , I wouldn't know how to back up my gallery, I don't know how to use phpmyadmin or anyhting like that if I had to move to another host .. and I wouldn't want to upload all those pictures again if I moved to another host... my question is, would Hostnine would be able to copy my whole gallery if I moved my site here without losing anything?

thanks in advance

If your current host uses cpanel, then this is an easy task which the HostNine staff can do for you.

If not, you'll need some way of making a backup of your home directory and databases, then HostNine can install it for you here.

yes, it's CP version 10

what's the CPU restrictions over here? I hope they are not as bad as my last host when a few people looking at the gallery causes an error.

As far as I know there are no fixed limits, however you can't be bogging down the server. To me it sounds like you're being modest when you say 'a few people' are browsing your site. You can try and move over here but if you have a very busy site, then it's a waste of both yours and H9's time as they will suspend your account assuming you use a huge amount of resources.

You might want to contact H9 support and tell them the details of the amount of traffic you receive and see what they say.

I get about 900 visitors a day in my main website.. I don't know how many actully visit the gallery but certainly not dozens at the same time.
My site is static html, it's just the gallery I'm concerned about

Say if 20 people were at the same time visiting my gallery, would that be considered too many?
To reduce chances of CPU errors I turned off comments, ratings, registrations, and random files showing on my gallery

That doesn't sound too bad to be honest. A lot also comes down to the script itself and how well it handles high loads. I'm not that familiar with the script in question, though I have heard about it before and believe it's a fairly good script.

But like I said earlier, you might want to talk to H9 themselves and get the word straight from them.
