Hi.
I'm curious about what kind of knowledge you need to have to become a reseller. I like the idea, but I lack confidence that I would be able to do it. Do you need to have professional knowledge of servers and tecnical issues or is the administration quite easy? cheers |

No, You don't need alot of knowledge to start reselling as all of the servers at HostNine are managed.

Ok. But in a case where a customer wants/needs specific tecnical help I would be quite lost. Do I just forward those tickets to hostnine support then? ;-)

Hi,
You can submit tickets to us asking questions in order to learn and provide the answers to your customers :-) |

The main reason people select reseller over dedicated or even VPS is because the hosting provider (hostnine) takes care of all the server and technical issues. It would help if you got to know your control panel and set up proper support for your customers, but with my experience here at hostnine they take good care of their resellers!

I would however suggest you have a basic understanding of all of the functions on Cpanel but if you run into trouble you can always get H9 to fix any problems and you will learn as you go. |

Thanks for the answers! Ok, I'm getting more convinced that it's not as difficult as I was afraid it was, and it's great that hostnine could even help out with questions beyond my own knowledge. That I didn't expect. I have knowledge of some of the functions in c-panel, but not all. Mostly the things I've needed so far for the minor websites i run.
Yes, proper support is good. I still need to find out how to setup things like that. Is phone support a must have? Personally I've felt satisfied with email support myself. |

Do with what you feel comfortable with.... the last thing you want to do i get confused down the telephone and scare him away. At lease with email support you have time to research the matter.
