It looks to be back online now. And as expected got emails waiting from clients asking what happened. Can a staff member please advise as to what happened so we can advice clients. It was down for quite a while as well.

If this is scheduled, can we all be notified next time anything like this happens. Please!

PS Got this funny message when trying to submit

Mistake! There was an attempt of an automatic insert of the message in a forum. Your message is sent to hell. Try still times who knows - can it will turn out? Still probably, that you too long wrote the message - then pass to page back, copy the text, update page, insert the copied text and press button "Send".

I opened a ticket although in my panic i sent it to sales, but alas the emails didnt come through because the server was down...doh!

This what the reply i got from Tim

Quote:
There was a duplicate entry in the named.conf configuration file which has been removed allowing the DNS server to restart. Everything is now working correctly.
I have asked them what provisions they have in place on their side to notify them of when a server is down...would be nice to find out, because it's pretty shyte if they just depend on us telling them, especially when we can't get through to them easily...

That would be cool if they could setup the notification system. I'm in the UK as well, and since the server went down in the middle of the night , didn't know until around 7am. I'm suspecting it went down a few hours b4 that according to my live chat program.

Have to update my site news section now to explain the outage. :?

This issue was an isolated issue that only happened within the hour.
I have just pointed out this thread...so if you noticed it at 7am then that was at least 2 hours...

Hi,

I can assure you it was not a very large issue. There was a duplicate entry in the named.conf file on galaxy which caused bind to fail when attempting to restart. We had the issue resolved ASAP as we had to narrow it down. I am speaking with our night shift now to see why chat was unavailable as that is completely unacceptable and will NEVER happen again.
