I've put in a support request, but can't seem to get a reply on this.
I have only one client on a Windows box, and for some reason, Spam Assassin does not seem to work at all (even at the highest setting). They are getting flooded with spam with absolutely no filters seeming to work. We've set up Spam Assassin in the Windows admin, but when I ftp in, I am not seeing a .spamassassin folder on the account like I do on my Unix clients' accounts. (And I'm not even sure where the mail folders are, which would be a good thing to know.) Does anyone know: 1. If Spam Assassin is actually being employed on the Windows boxes. 2. Where the .spamassassin folder would be located if it is actually employed. 3. Where the mail folders are located in relationship to the root on Windows boxes. Thanks. |

I would like to know the answer as well. I am about to move over two website clients to windows servers... looks like (win3) please let me know more about spam protection on that server.
Thanks, Emily

The point is that Spam Assassin was not stopping any spam for my clients, which made me question whether or not it was functional. When I asked for Spam Assassin to be reinstalled, then email quit working altogether.
Thanks for the other answers, but it is a moot point for me now. I took my client off the Windows hosting here at H9 and hooked them up with Verio. Although H9 has great support for their Unix boxes, Windows is another matter. We went for days at a time with no response or action, and when I finally did get a response (while my clients had no email whatsoever), I was admonished for inconveniencing someone on the H9 Windows support staff who had to come in just to deal with my issue. I hope you haven't terminated your windows account at H9. If not then thake a full backup using Plesk backup tool and upload it to verio server and you can either restore backup or ask them to restore the same. you will have option to take backup of emails.
Regarding Spam Assassin you can reconfigure it and increase the spam scopre if it is not working fine. |

I appreciate your help, but the Windows hosting here was just not working for me or my client.
As for Spam Assassin, we tried increasing the settings, even all the way to the max, and all spam was still getting through. Backups? I was running automated backups every week. But we did a clean upload to the account at Verio weeks ago, where everything is running smoothly. JW |
