Default What's happening at The Planet?

H9 Folks,

What's going on at The Planet? I have no metrics, but the last 2-3 weeks there has been a steady decline in stability (or increase in outages; pick your pleasure). Fiddling with my blog on node38, I happened to catch HTTP down twice in the last five hours.

Joshua, in case you wonder by here, I appreciate your suggestion to relocate. I've come to trust your judgment in the short time I've been at H9. OTOH, you folks have repeatedly lauded the merits of The Planet and your relationship with them. I have no reason to believe that they grew to their size due to an overwhelming desire to underachieve, and you folks are good at what you do. Why is it that I'm beginning to believe, or more properly being trained to believe, that I need to lower my expectation of level of service?

Hiya,

I can't for obvious security reasons release detailed information. However, I can say there was a heavily sophisticated attack recently on the nodes that we are still recovering from.

Basic good & evil. I can live with that.

You folks generally do a good job communicating issues. There are gaps, however. Allow me to suggest that when you have an issue that creates, or can be foreseen to create, more than a short term issue for a group of customers, you should communicate with that group. Had I not taken the time to post here, I would have been left to make a decision to tolerate, migrate, or simply jump due to what I could only see as repeated, and lately consistent, service failures. A decision favorable to the host is one not likely to be made repeatedly absent more information than a dead site provides.

As always, Joshua, thanks for your help.
