For the H9 Staff:
Quote:
I moved away from The Planet DC for certian reasons when I initailly started with H9. Does this also mean that the Dell Server equipment will no longer be the standard? As far as I recall the Planet is aligned with HP and not DELL... What are the plans and schedule for the remainder of the servers located in Cedar Falls and Chicago. |

Yes,
We are migrating to the planet. However, I know exactly why you moved and that is exactly why we didn't want to do business with them. The Planet actually flew Blake and I out to Houston last week and we had the chance to sit down with all of the top executives along with 12 of the largest companies in the hosting industry and we were shocked. We got to see first hand how the planet strived to improve the customer service/support and how they plan to maintain the improvements with their rapid growth. I can assure you there is nothing to worry about with them. Our original provider announced they were up for sale and we did not feel safe sticking around for that. The planet has been in business for years upon years and to us seemed like the most reliable location to place our servers. The planet does use Dell servers as well. I don't believe they were ever partnered with HP. I have some DC pics to prove that one ;-) |

Ben,
Quote:
I did not get a guided tour but place my faith in your decision on this. I also hope that the equipment has been upgraded and that they are not still trying to use servers at lifes end to appease the accountants. They in general are lower in cost than FS, and might we also see a portion of this benefit passed along? I had not heard that FS was on the block?? Please develop a migration schedule for the named servers and post it here well in advance, so that we can plan around it. Thank you for the concise response Last edited by kobra; 02-29-2008 at 02:13 AM. |

Oh man, I love THE PLANET.
My cousin has a dedicated server (very expensive) with them and he's extremely happy with everything. Good job H9!

The Headache Returns...
Hi all. After seeing this thread I rushed to register to add my voice to the masses. Being a fairly new customer to Host Nine, we have been absolutely thrilled at the server speed and responsiveness of both tech support and the servers themselves. This is following our move OFF of The Planet's servers which was an absolute nightmare. I'm talking very recently as well, not a year or so ago. I have no idea what line they fed you and your staff but while you are excited at the improvements that they have evidently promised you... Some of us are horrified at the return of a truck load of issues that we JUST left behind, or so we thought. My question would be, how definite is this move and are some of H9's servers being left intact? I'm just hoping for an "Up-Side" to all this - Jeff - |

Jeff,
The move's already done my friend, and does not involve any of the newer servers unless you choose Texas as the location of your site in reseller central. I'm sorry for your experience, but already 99% of our customers have noticed a great speed and reliability improvement. Let's not make this a bash thread, if you have further questions, please PM me.
