I haven't found this addressed somewhere yet...
If you have an email only hosting client, and their website is hosted elsewhere, how would you go about setting up email for them? When a new account is set up, we are instructed to go to ourdomain.com/cpanel to configure new email accounts, but if dns for the site is set up elsewhere, how does this work? Do all email accounts on one domain *have* to have websites here too? |

Hi,
Then can use http://yourdomainhere.com/cpanel or http://ip/cpanel As long as the MX record is setup correctly where the DNS is hosted it will work just fine. |

If they use only POP3/IMAP to read the mail, the only thing to do is to change the MX record so it points here (i suppose your client email is at H9). To read/write/create email accounts via webmail then you would use the IP of the server (or if you have a dedicated IP for hosting) in the format of: http://ip.ad.ddre.ss/cpanel . That would solve your clients problem and yours to. This is only valid if the DNS is pointing somewhere else. Cheers, Santo |
