Default Transferring cPanel Accounts

Can I just ask how you guys transfer cPanel accounts across from other hosts, and how hard it is. Just a possibility of offering it to my customers.

As just another user here...if the other host account also has cpanel or another that will create "full site backups", these are the kind that cpanel states "Generate/Download a Full Backup
Full backups can only be used for moving your account
to another server or keeping a local copy of your account"

Meaning that you, as a user cannot restore from this type of backup, but this contains all the data, site, user names, mail accounts, passwords, and Databases.

The new host (H9) in this instance can use this to restore/move the account to your reseller account.

Thanks kobra. Think I'll offer it to my customers who also want to move their cpanel accounts across.

So if I was to make a Full backup of my shared hosting account, I wouldn't be able to restore from it??

Yes, this is how it works...a full site backup can only be restored by H9 as it requires SU permissions.

You can also create individual backups of the site files and individual DB backups that you can restore but individually. No account names, email, and the other account things...just the files or the DB records.

These are useful for restoring your own sites to their original locations and are less useful for a complete site move.

Default restore function

hi,

just a quick input here.
WHM dont offer a restore backup tool for local files. ( you can always try to upload it by browser). There is a add-on script to WHM named WHM master reseller, that allows you to migrate a cpanel account using ip ( or domain ) and username/password from client. Then serverīs does the rest. This tool however presents many faillures ( or i could never use it correctly). Best solutions seems to generature a full backup from cpanel, then ask server admin to restore this.
The restore function is visible to server admin ( not to resellerīs ) and demands a root acess to restore it. In this case, hostnine whould assure this feature for you so that clientīs transfers is sucessful.
That will restore you cpanel clients account on new server.
Another solutions is to backup all "by hand".
letīs say you have a joomla instalation. Then u need to backup joomla plus all the SQL databases that goes along. Kind of tecnical for newbieīs like myself.
